Pronunciation: La Liaison

Pronunciation: La Liaison

In this lesson we are going to start studying some important aspects about your French pronunciation.

Some pronunciation areas are governed by the grammatical concepts elision and liaison, and enchafnement.

Keep the following pronunciation points in mind. Liaison occurs when one word ends in a consonant that is normally silent and the following word begins with a vowel or mute h.

It is only a concern in spoken French, of course, but it is still a part of the formal language rules.  In these cases you pronounce the word as an only word

UN ENFANT
