Let's keep on studying our French lessons. Today we are going to practice one of the first verbs you learn when you are studying french: le verbe être which can be assimilate with the verb to be.
So first, let's conjugate it:

You can use the verb être with adjectives and to describe a quality of the subject as you do in English:
Je suis étudiant I am a student
Nous sommes forts We are strong
When we study the past you'll know that in French, the verb être is also used as an auxiliary form to indicate the past tense:
Je suis allé I went
